How Does CryptoGraffiti Work?
A visitor pay some bitcoin can type their message into the text area, and view the message displayed on the CryptoGraffiti site and decoded from the blockchain from the anonymous Bitcoiners.
June 17, 2016 untill, users were only able to send text messages to the blockchain. But it’s possible to have JPG images written to the blockchain alongside text messages.
The images can be up to 50KB in size. And, once of publishing to the blockchain the process is finished, no one on the planet can censor, edit or delete the information it is stored in the blocks foreverBetChain app it’s the first service in the Bitcoin ecosystem which implements automated image writing to the blockchain, Bitcoin and bitcoin casino 150 free spins.com reached out to CryptoGraffiti’s founder, Erich Erstu (nickname Hyena), to ask him a few questions about his vision of the job and its potential outcomes for the Bitcoin community.
Bitcoin.com (BC): What do you do for living?
A photograph of young Angela Merkel with Hitler, printed to the blockchain for permanent preservation.
Hyena: I’m working as a software programmer in the capital of Estonia.
BC: How did you come to opening such a cool website as cryptograffiti.info?
Hyena: In 2014 I was studying in the Masters’ program of Software Engineering at the University of Tartu. We had a class and for one of the course homeworks we needed to datamine something from the world that is real and present the results. I believed? By way of example, similarly to how Satoshi wrote”The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on verge of second bailout for banks” at the very first block of Bitcoin’s block chain. I immediately wrote a program that searches and monitors bitcoin TX’s from the output addresses of every transaction for ASCII text. As I was expecting, I found all kinds of messages, so I made the cryptograffiti.info site that displayed those messages. It was introduced by me as a consequence of my homework.
BC: Impressive. What services do you plan to implement in future?
Hyena: I intend to employ Proof-of-Existence service as an added tool for cryptograffiti that allows secure timestamping of files for notary purposes. Also, In the future I’d like to develop some interesting provably.
BC: How did you first learn about the Bitcoin technology?
Hyena: I learned about the Bitcoin technology in 2011 from a friend who learned about it on reddit and told me about this”cool new digital currency that can be used to buy drugs online.” He was interested in that type of thing, but I immediately recognized Bitcoin as an investment opportunity of this centurybitcoin casino instant payout best deposit bonus for bitcoin casino and withdrawl times Was it scary or entertaining to learn about Bitcoin in the first time?
Hyena: It was definitely fun to learn about bitcoin since it was my gateway into the secrets of the financial world.
Thanks to Bitcoin, I now understand the world economics work, how banks function and all that.
A satirical message about the recent DAO troubles.
BC: What do you consider the ecosystem market for services such as yours?
Hyena: Some people argue that services such as cryptograffiti.info cause block series bloat and are thus immoral. They say that the block chain shouldn’t be used for this.
I think it’s the same like saying that the Internet should be used for publishing articles and to swap e-mails with relatives. In my view, the data storage feature of the block chain gives intrinsic value and the community should be happy for it.
Bitcoin is not the online money but in addition, it provides a platform for censor free communicating and trustless notary services.
BC: Your recent post on bitcointalk.org forum states:
“I am happy to announce that I have just received a contribution of 0.1 bitcoins from en.hotmine.io Smart Heating. It motivated me to implement the image storing. Also, thanks go to the bitcointalk consumer xumuku who also donated me bitcoins quite some time ago so that I would implement image storing”.
You have many such messages from the thread. Looks like the service has a huge fan-base and a real potential to grow. Is it profitable to maintain a simple looking but website?
Hyena: With 2 decades of operating, people have saved over 500 messages on the block series using cryptograffiti.info and I have received 2.1 bitcoins as gifts. Considering the cost of bitcoin I will say I have not been working with a loss.
The service has a potential to become even more rewarding and perhaps it ought to be turned into a organization.
I am yet to be approached by people or investors . Until that, I am happy to have developed a service that we find useful.
Thank you, Erich Erstu, for answering our questions and providing the community with this new functionality. We wish you the best of luck with your project.
